Job Description

Nature and Scope:

As part of the Government's (Sport England) Sport Survival Package, the RFU has recently been successful in securing a grant of £2.441m to deliver a programme of Governance and Business Transformation support to professional and semi-professional rugby clubs in England. This follows on from significant Government funding that has been received across rugby union clubs as part of the Winter Sport Survival Fund in the form of a significant level of grants and loans.

In order to deliver this project by March 2023, the RFU is looking for a multi-disciplinary Club Governance & Transformation Project Manager to lead this project. The role holder will be required to work throughout the organisation at all levels of the business as well as with key stakeholders including Premiership Rugby and Sport England.

Accountabilities:
• Setting up, managing and reporting across the project to both internal and external stakeholders
• Management of cross-organisational project team, ensuring strong communication and collaboration and the project is delivered as efficiently as possible
• Financial management and accountability for project deliverables
• Lead on all the development of all procurement documentation and management of all procurement processes
• Relationship and contract management of 3rd party suppliers, including £1m+ professional services contract
• Close working with senior managers across RFU to ensure appropriate specialist support is provided 
• Provide support to Professional department and Premiership Rugby in communicating and engaging with clubs
• Actively collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development and delivery of the RFU strategic, business and operational plans
• Act as an ambassador for, and promote the best interests of the RFU at all times, including the promotion of the RFU Core Values
• Undertake such other duties as maybe required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the post and the needs of the RFU

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience:
• Must demonstrate competence through previous relevant experience initiating and managing large transformational projects 
• Strong project planning experience and ability to manage effectively within scope, timelines, budget and quality
• Experience of managing large supply contracts and building strong relationships with third party suppliers  
• Competence in people management and ability to lead or support in-house and third party teams, communicate effectively with and influence business stakeholders
• Experience of sport governance and/or business transformation is desirable

• Personal circumstances must allow the candidate to work extended hours on occasion during times of peak activity including evenings and weekends
• Role holders not based at the Twickenham headquarters must be available to work from there as and when required
