TWO x SPORT PHYSICIANS – MULTISPORT plus Chief Medical Officer for Wheelchair Fencing or Modern Pentathlon


Interview Date: 11th February 2022


Salary Scales: £87,496 to £98,433 p.a. (pro rata)


Grade: Level 2 to 3 (Sports Medicine) (Salary and grade is dependent on skills and experience)


Hours of Work: Such hours as necessary to carry out your duties. This will involve a minimum of 7.5 hours per week (0.2 FTE) in clinical delivery in Bath plus an additional 1 to 3 hrs/wk (average) for the CMO role


Location: The normal place of work is the EIS clinic within the University of Bath Sports Training Village. The English Institute of Sport (EIS) may require you to travel to and work EIS places of work, and at overseas training camps and or competitions.

The EIS sits in a pivotal role in the UK within high performance sport. On a day to day basis EIS people provide outstanding support services to sports in our elite training centres. It is also at the heart of leading innovation across sport as well as being a key voice in the world of sports science and technical and medical challenges that will face our world of sport over the coming years; mental health, doping, safeguarding, concussion – to name just a few.   





EIS are looking to recruit two experienced Sports Physicians to join the team in Bath. The roles will combine a day/week (0.2 FTE) of multi-sport support (provided on a Monday or Wednesday) with the role of Chief Medical Officer to Wheelchair Fencing or Modern Pentathlon. One of the roles will take on the leadership of the Sports Medicine team and therefore we would encourage applicants who have leadership and management experience in addition to excellent Sports Physician skills.





  • Passionate about supporting athletes and coaches on their performance journey
  • Comfortable and confident working in an embedded SSSM team, with a high challenge-high support team value
  • Able to work aligned to a shared discipline strategy whilst contributing to the on-going development of evidence based, best practice
  • Able to work autonomously, using one's own initiative, be comfortable in an ambiguous, complex landscape and engage in creative problem solving
  • A personal desire to develop one's own practice and thrive in the high-performance environment
