Job Description

Background 

Chance to Shine is a national children's charity. We give young people the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket. We keep them physically active, teach them vital skills like teamwork, communication and leadership. And above all, they have fun! 

Chance to Shine coaches inspire children, young people and teachers in state schools and in disadvantaged communities through our Street programme. We work with half a million children each year - nearly half of which are girls. 

The Operations team is tasked with creating and implementing high quality programmes in both school and community environments, giving over 500,000 young people the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket every year. 

Our Schools programmes aims to inspire children with a brilliant first experience of cricket, develop physical literacy and a love of sport at a crucial age, helps teachers to build confidence and provides a pathway to community sport.  

Our Street programme gives young people who face barriers to play cricket have the opportunity to do so regularly in their community – one where they feel safe and included.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Operations team as our programmes are well established with excellent support from key stakeholders, especially England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Sport England.  

This role may either be based at our London Office at the Kia Oval or remotely.

Purpose of the role 

The role of the Street Programme Officer is to support the effective and efficient running of the CTS Street Programme, to assist our Inclusive Programmes Manager and Operational Managers with the local delivery of programmes, coordinate Regional and National Competitions and ensure all reporting requirements are upheld in compliance with Sport England contract.

Key Responsibilities & Relationships

The Street Programme Officer responsibilities include: 
 

·         To oversee the day-to-day operations of the CTS Street Programme, providing support and guidance to all Delivery Partners (DPs).
 

·         To identify new locations across England, Scotland and Wales where Street projects can give more young people in disadvantaged communities an opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket.
 

·         To ensure that all programme and financial reporting on the CTS Portal is completed accurately by DPs in accordance with Partnership Agreements.
 

·         To be the primary liaison with Street DPs and coaches, ensuring they are fully aware of their responsibilities in delivering programme outcomes.
 

·         In partnership with Operational Managers, attend DP mid-programme and end of year reviews where necessary.
 

·         Oversee the annual self-assessments for all DPs to ensure that Street projects are achieving the desired outcome and engage the right young people.
 

·         To oversee and coordinate regional Street competitions for Youth, Young Adults and Girls in all four regions, culminating in a national competition in July and August.
 

·         To develop programme resources mapped to the learning outcomes of the young people, and ensure that these are well understood and used by the coach workforce.
 

·         To ensure that CTS Life-Skills modules form a consistent part of a young person's experience in Street, and identify gaps in our provision.  
 

·         To identify need/demand for Street specific coach training – organise delivery, attendance, venues, accommodation (if required), virtual training platforms (if required) and post-training surveys.
 

·         To support our Impact & Evaluation department in the evaluation elements of the CTS Street Programme.
 

·         To support our Communications & Digital team to identify best practice to share on social media platforms and in impact reports.
 

•       To support our Fundraising team when compiling supporter progress reports and applications for new funding.

Experience & qualifications

Essential


 ·       Full UK driving license and able and willing to travel throughout the UK
 ·       Experience of successful delivery of team objectives by working closely and collaboratively within a team at all levels
 ·       Experience of managing stakeholder relationships and delivering good customer service

Desirable
 ·       Knowledge and practical experience of financial and reporting systems, in particular the CTS Portal 
·       A sound knowledge and understanding of the Chance to Shine Street programme

·       Previous experience of delivering/managing the Chance to Shine Street programme at a local level

About Chance to Shine

Chance to Shine is a national charity that aims to give all children the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket. We believe that cricket can help to develop the personal, social and physical skills of the 600,000 children that we work with every year.

Chance to Shine Schools programme has introduced five million state school children to cricket over the last 15 years. 88% of the teachers we surveyed agreed their pupils had developed their teamwork skills through taking part. 72% of the children we surveyed agreed “I feel confident when I play cricket”. 

Chance to Shine Street was set up to reach young people in disadvantaged areas. Street is a fast, fun, free and exciting version of cricket requiring limited equipment. The programme engages more than 5,000 young people each year across 200 projects. 64% of our participants are from the most deprived areas of England and 75% are from ethnically diverse communities.
