British Cycling now seek a new Podium Coach – Mens Track Endurance

Why the Great Britain Cycling Team (GBCT)? GBCT has been one of Great Britain's most successful Olympic and Paralympic teams for the last two decades. GBCT's purpose is to 'inspire Great Britain into a great cycling nation through being the World's greatest sports team'. The team is made up of approximately 140 riders competing across multiple cycling disciplines including Track (Olympic and Paralympic), Road (Olympic and Paralympic), Mountain Bike (Olympic), BMX Supercross (Olympic) and BMX Freestyle Park (Olympic). The team is supported by approximately 80 members of staff who provide cutting edge, specialist support in their respective areas.

The role of a Podium Coach – Mens Track Endurance is to:

Be responsible for leading the mens endurance programme through the Olympic cycle focussing on success in Paris 2024 and beyond. Working in partnership with the endurance performance strategist you will lead the athletes and performance support team by creating an aspirational and compelling performance plan to chart the course towards 'What it takes to Win' at the Olympic games. You will primarily support the mens endurance athletes to achieve their potential through world class coaching and forging strong relationships with both support teams and external stakeholders including professional road teams.

What you need is:

  • Relevant Coaching Accreditation and relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent.
  • Technical expertise and International success in respective discipline.
  • Sufficient experience, qualification and accreditation for riding a derny or GBCT motorbike/Scooter to facilitate training sessions.
  • Experience of creating and executing a Performance Plan and associated long term training and competition plans to deliver medal targets at identified events, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within high performance sporting environments, enhancing the performance and potential of elite athletes
  • Demonstrated ability in a scientific approach to training and the ability to integrate key support sports science and sports medicine services to assist athlete development and performance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the national and international elite sport network and systems.
  • Up to date with current trends and practices in elite sports coaching.
  • Proactively engage and take ownership for implementing progressive Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
