JOB DESCRIPTION

Street League use sport and physical activity to tackle youth unemployment. We do this by working with young people who live in the most disadvantaged areas of the UK, and engage them in structured football, dance fitness or fitness and education programmes with a view to getting participants into work, mainstream education or training. We're really good at it too! In 2016/17, 1553 young people graduated from our Academy programmes and went on to make positive change in their lives by getting a job or going back into education.

Street League use football, fitness and dance fitness as an engagement and retention tool in order to build the confidence and develop the soft skills of our participants. Young people take part in a daily one hour football, fitness or  dance fitness session which acts as a feeder programme for our Academies. The session also acts as the first step of their progression, with each participant individually assessed in order to identify the most appropriate support required to effect a positive life transition. Graduates from Street League Academies who have been successful in progressing into employment, education or training will be supported by our aftercare provision. Staff engage participants in discussion to confirm that they are sustaining employment, education or training, and continue to track them for up to 12 months if necessary.

Desired Skills and Experience

Street League now wishes to broaden its range of skills and experience and to this end is seeking to appoint additional Trustees to the board. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with a background in and links to the City or Corporate sector (in London) or an individual from the Sporting industry. All candidates should have a strong interest in Youth Development, Education or Youth Employment.

The Board meets four times a year, although individuals can and do become involved in specific projects where their skills are relevent which may increase the frequency of attendance. The postions are unremunerated.
