The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) is seeking a dynamic individual with a track record of success to design, implement and lead its World Class Performance Pathways Programme.
As the National Governing Body for horse sports in the UK the BEF, working collaboratively with its 19 member bodies, represents a broad spectrum of equine interests. Athletes of both sexes and all ages compete on an equal footing, making equestrianism one of the only gender neutral and age neutral sports. It has a huge public appeal within an extensive competitive landscape. Some 4.2m people in the UK ride each year, and with longstanding BEF member organisations such as The Pony Club and RDA, there is an abundant talent pool of potential world class athletes.
Reporting to the Performance Director, the Head of Performance Pathways will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team which is tasked with seeking to engage, enhance and evolve the athletes on the BEF's World Class Programmes (WCP) and create a culture and environment that enables the BEF WCP team to achieve sustained success for the Tokyo cycle and beyond.
The initial primary focus of the role will be:
• to work collaboratively with the Performance Director and key stakeholders to create and implement the strategy and technical framework for Olympic and Paralympic athlete and coach identification to deliver a seamless Athlete Performance Pathway Programme that recognises potential, nurtures growth and drives sustained medal success.
• To foster, lead or offer support to collaborative initiatives with the Home Nations funding partners (Sport England, Sport Wales Sport Scotland etc.), Olympic Discipline Member Bodies, and other Member Bodies such as The Pony Club and RDA, in order to develop the strategic and technical framework for developing potential athletes from “performance foundation” activity through the World Class talent development programmes, such as Excel Talent Programme and Podium Potential, up to Podium.
• Define and implement a KPI framework that measures the impact of the performance pathway both at key points and as a whole to provide evidence led assessment of the effectiveness of the Pathway in producing athletes from the foundation stages through to Podium levels.
• Once the Performance Pathway is established the Head of Performance Pathways will then be responsible for the management and evolution of the Pathway Programme and delivering against specific objectives and KPIs as agreed with the Performance Director.
The position is a permanent full time employee role, based at our offices at Abbey Park, Stareton, Warwickshire. The contract will include a competitive salary plus pension and health insurance in accordance with the BEF's normal terms and conditions of employment.
