UK Athletics (UKA), the National Governing Body for the premier Olympic sport of athletics, is offering an outstanding opportunity to play a key role in delivering communications through until Tokyo 2020

We are currently seeking to recruit a great media professional to join UKA - the successful candidate will be those who are able to demonstrate an alignment with performance sport as well as working with a dedicated group of media who give the sport a great platform of coverage.

The role will act as the main contact for all media around performance, working collaboratively with the lead senior media officer for the Paralympic programme and as directed by the Head of Communications. 

The post holder will also take responsibility of delivery of the Performance communications plan and key commercial announcements. You will also be able to make a major contribution to the in house Major events delivery team, working with the Competitions PR Manager. 

The successful candidate will also be adept with digital engagement and contribute proactively in keeping our social media channels up to date, engaging and informative to our followers.

In addition to having excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will have managed and delivered high profile complex projects. You will also have demonstrable skills of managing high profile stakeholder relationships since the roles will involve working very closely with world class athletes, coaches, sponsors and the media.  It is essential the candidates demonstrate that they are able to work calmly and confidently in times of crisis and remain self motivated with drive to make a real difference to the Sport.

The ideal candidates will, as a minimum, have gained a first degree or equivalent in relevant discipline, be fully proficient with the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office and Adobe Premier Pro CS4, possess excellent copy writing skills with an ability to write creatively. 

An understanding of performance sport will be highly advantageous. This role will include working unsociable hours and may involve some nationwide and worldwide travel.
