Code for Sports Governance
Sporting Equals is committed to high standards of governance and we're proud to have achieved compliance against Tier 3 of the Code for Sports Governance (with confirmation of compliance received from Sport England during August 2018). Work to maintain compliance is ongoing as part of our good governance.
Sporting Equals is registered as a charity in England and Wales (1119365) and is registered with Companies House as a Private Limited Company by guarantee (05853520). We're governed by the rules and regulations within our Memorandum and Articles of Association.
Board of Trustees
Sporting Equals is governed by a Board of Trustees who collectively govern and take decisions to ensure the charity fulfils its purpose and remains sustainable. As Sporting Equals is both a charity and company, Sporting Equals' Trustees are also company Directors (Non-Executive Directors) and therefore beholden to both charity and company law.
Sporting Equals' Board of Trustees currently includes the Chair, Senior Independent Director and eight other Trustees. Sporting Equals' Trustees are volunteers who bring valued experience to Sporting Equals from a range of backgrounds. Sporting Equals' is committed to gender diversity and our current board composition is 30% male and 70% female Trustees. Please see 'Meet Our Team' to find out more about our Trustees.
Sporting Equals' Board of Trustees has three sub-committees where Trustees with specific skills and experience can focus on priority governance areas in more detail (Finance Committee, Audit Committee, HR & Remunerations Committee) and, in addition, Nominations Committee is dealt with by the Full Board.
