Biography

Aly Cissokho born 15 September 1987 is a French professional footballer who plays for Porto on loan from Aston Villa, and the France national team. He plays as a left back and has been described as a "sprightly left-back with good speed and stamina".

Aly began his career playing for local clubs and in 2004, he signed with professional club FC Gueugnon before making his debut in the 2006–07 season.

Cissokho spent only one season at the club and, in June 2008, signed with Portuguese club Vitória de Setúbal in thePortuguese Liga. After spending only 1/2 the season with the club, Cissokho departed Vitória for the league's defending champions Porto.

With Porto, Cissokho won the Portuguese league and cup double and played in the UEFA Champions League for the first time. In July 2009, he signed a five-year contract with French club Lyon. At the beginning of the 2012–2013 season Cissokho was sold to Valencia CF and was subsequently loaned to Liverpool for the 2013–14 season.

Cissokho is also French international and earned his first call-up to the team in November 2009. He made his senior debut a year later in August 2010 in a friendly match against Norway.
